Breaking News! Music@Jamworks happens starting with a special session in two weeks time on Sunday June 5th from 2 to 4:30pm.
Then it will happen on the last Sunday of each month - same time between 2 to 4:30pm.
Jamworks recently opened their new facility and it is great . Excellent gourmet food, excellent people & service goes well with excellent music & sound, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon when you're looking for something to do that gets you away from doing anything.
Jamworks is located 13 minutes south of Stanthorpe on the New England Highway on the corner of Townsend Road, Glen Aplin. If you haven't been out there to check it out then you should take the time - it's worth it!
I've been playing at my regular spot at the Market in the Mountains (once a month 2nd Sunday each month). I really like the venue at the showgrounds (due to the fire in the Civic Center) because I'm in the main area with the rest of the stall holders and I really enjoy the interaction with the passing public. I don't get that easy flow at the Civic Center because I'm in the cafe area and not out in the main space. I don't know when the Market is due to return to the Civic Center. When we return there then you will just have to come in and have a coffee or something and say hello!
It Since I last posted back in February there's been a fair bit going on. Back then I had just received my new CD's and the Australian National Busking championships semi-final was taking place in Stanthorpe. It was great to be part of music in the streets at Stanthorpe. Great to see other wonderful musicians and it really brought the town to life.
This was a fantastic lead-in to the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival. Playing in the cafe in the Civic Center over the festival was an excellent opportunity to sell a few CD's and get to know some new people.
I'm still having a love affair with the new CD's and will be doing so for some time to come. It's great to have such a quality piece of merchandise to put out there. If you haven't yet obtained a copy then send me an email and we can organise delivery. Otherwise mp3 versions are available on ITunes, Soundcloud, Spotify etc - anywhere that good music is available on the internet. I must say though that the sound quality of the CD is better than the MP3.
Next month over 5 days from Thursday 9th June through to Monday 13th June I will be at Winterbreak - the Loose Acoustic music retreat at Mount Tamborine. (You guessed it! I won't be at the Market in the Mountains next month (June 12th)).
This is my one musical interlude in the year where I mix with other like-minded souls talking, singing, playing guitar, writing, collaborating and creating music! Canadian singer-songwriter Jon Brooks is the songwriting Tutor this year. Let's see where it takes us!
Michael Fix (widely acclaimed as perhaps world's best acoustic guitarist) returns as the Guitar Tutor. Lisa Richards returns as the Singing/Vocal Coach specialist. Michael Whiticker returns as the Sound specialist.

Art on Davadi has moved to the Stanthorpe Railway Station. On Saturday just passed (21st May) I busked from 8am to midday while the people moved around the Market Stalls. The weather was beautiful and it's a fantastic setting. This is a community activity well-worth supporting. The market should be happening once every 3 months. Look forward to seeing you at the next one!
Let's hope the turn-out is as good if not better than it was last year. Brilliant new annual event Snowflakes in Stanthorpe is happening from July 1 to July 3. Once again I will part of the busking down the main street on the Friday.
Catch up with you again soon!
Regards... Mark
